What is HairCheck?

HairCheck® is a quick, painless, non-invasive way to measure and track the amount and quality of hair growing in a given area of the scalp (called the Hair Mass Index, HMI, “HairNumber,” or “HairScore”). The HairCheck device is a highly sensitive hand-held ‘trichometer,’ which scientifically measures hair caliber and hair density together and expresses them as a single number by compressing and measuring a defined hair bundle. It can also measure the percentage of hair breakage, which is a common cause of hair loss. Tracking these numbers can help determine the extent of hair loss and/or breakage and, over time, allows the tracking of results from treatments.

The validity of HairCheck, also called “cross-sectional hair bundle measurement,” and the stereotactic tool used to go back to exactly the same area of the scalp without having to make a tattoo or other marking after an appropriate interval of treatment has been the subject of many peer-reviewed articles and medical presentations.  Hundreds of professionals have been trained in the use of the HairCheck tool and medical hair loss management treatment protocols through the HairCoach certification program.
