Am I a good candidate for TURBO LaserCap?

Because hair loss and hair thinning are medical conditions that may be influenced by many factors, including heredity, medications, illness, stress, nutrition, lifestyle, etc., and may get worse with time, Dr. Bauman recommends that all patients have a thorough medical consultation before initiating any hair restoration regimen. Baseline evaluations, HairCheck, and other tracking measurements, as well as standardized “global” medical photos and microscopic scalp evaluations, are critical to providing an objective measurement of your progress.

When can I expect results from TURBO LaserCap?

Hair is produced by a healthy hair follicle at a growth rate of about 0.3-0.4mm per day or about 1cm per month (between 1/4 to 1/2 inch per month), so even with consistent use, it can take six to twelve MONTHS to see visible changes in your hair “in the mirror.” However, by using an accurate scientific measuring device like HairCheck, which takes cross-sectional hair bundle (Hair Mass Index) measurements, it becomes easy to monitor your scalp’s response to laser therapy in just a few weeks. Sometimes, one area of the scalp improves more than another… many patients ask “why?” The answer is that the improvement with Laser Therapy treatment with Turbo LaserCap will be proportional to the amount of weakened hair in a given area. The higher the number of weaker hair follicles, the greater the improvement in Hair Mass. If the density in a given area is very low, meaning that fewer follicles can be impacted, improvements will be less dramatic in that zone. In addition, if the number of hair follicles and the quality of hair being produced is excellent in a given area of the scalp, the improvement in that location will also be less dramatic–and laser therapy will be protective in that zone, as opposed to restorative. It may seem counterintuitive, but just like other non-invasive treatments like Minoxidil (Formula 82M, 82F, etc.) and PRP, the response in each area will be proportional to the number of hair follicles that can be modulated or improved. High-powered magnification of the scalp or dermoscopy with a device like the HairCam can help your hair loss doctor or Certified HairCoach determine which areas are likely to respond to non-invasive treatment and which areas will need minimally-invasive hair transplantation. At Bauman Medical, during your hair loss consultation, Dr. Bauman will evaluate several areas of your scalp using HairCheck measurements and HairCam scalp microscopy and then prescribe a treatment plan based on your hair loss status in each area and hair restoration goals.

How do I use the TURBO LaserCap?

Recommended treatment with the TURBO LaserCap is only five (5) minutes every day–making it the fastest treatment time with the largest scalp coverage of any device on the market. Please refer to the Operations Manual for instructions on charging, storage, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

Is TURBO LaserCap safe?

The TURBO LaserCap meets or exceeds all federal safety and manufacturing standards. As a Class 3R laser, the Turbo LaserCap is considered safe when used as directed. Laser therapy is a 100% painless and drug-free, chemical-free treatment that has absolutely no side effects.

How does Laser Therapy work?

Laser therapy uses visible wavelengths of light (e.g., ‘red’), which have a biological effect on cells. It is known that wavelengths of light produced by the diodes of the LaserCap are associated with an increase in energy production within the cells, which may be the primary mechanism for helping patients’ hair follicles produce thicker, healthier-looking hair.

Can I use TURBO LaserCap in conjunction with Propecia/finasteride, Rogaine/Minoxidil/Formula 82m, or other treatments?

Laser Therapy can be used as a stand-alone treatment regimen or in conjunction with FDA-approved and custom compounded medications, nutraceuticals and nutritionals, PRP Platelet Rich Plasma, and stem cell therapy. Laser Therapy has also been shown to decrease discomfort as well as accelerate healing and accelerate hair growth after hair transplant surgery.
